The Project Mine Consortium is comprised of a unique network consisting of five local education agencies, including the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center-Greenbush, Pittsburg State University, and the Big Brutus Museum with the common mission.of increasing historical literacy among students, staff, and community members. The story of coal mining and its relevance to the understanding of social, culture, political, and environmental fabric of American history represents a tremendous opportunity for educators to implement an instructional model in which students actively discover learning.
