Description:
The Denny Beefmaster herd consists of 1200 bred cows, 500 bred heifers and 600 replacements. The cows winter on dry feed in lava rock pastures near Red Bluff, California and calve in February and March. Any females requiring calving assistance or failing to wean a good calf are culled. In April, the pairs and yearling heifers are trucked to Goose Valley Ranch near Burney, California. From May through June, the yearling heifers are exposed to our top yearling bull; first calf heifers to our top two-year-old bulls; and the cows to mature herd sires in separate multiple sire herds of 500 to 1000 females.
